Frequently Asked Questions

Moyo Initiative is registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act, No. 24 of 2002. This designation confirms our status as a non-profit entity dedicated to public benefit and ensures we comply with all regulatory requirements of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Our primary administrative and infrastructure focus is Dar es Salaam, where the Sanaa Arts Centre is located. However, the Moyo Arts Clubs Programme is designed for national rollout, with the pilot phase focusing on selected regions before scaling country-wide to ensure broad accessibility.

We operate under a unique Board-Controlled Governance Model. The organization is led by a professional Board of Directors that holds ultimate legal and financial responsibility. This separation ensures that all strategic and fiduciary decisions are made by the Board, while the Secretariat focuses exclusively on program implementation. This structure ensures maximum integrity and accountability.

We aim for long-term self-sustainability through a diversified funding model. While initial capital relies on grants and donations, our long-term plan includes earned income from the Sanaa Arts Centre (e.g., affordable rent for studio spaces, event hosting fees) and generating fees from pecialized professional development workshops. This revenue is reinvested directly back into our core programs.

We adhere strictly to the NGO Act (No. 24 of 2002). The Board of Directors conducts rigorous oversight, approves all budgets, and reviews annual audits. Our governance structure ensures that funds are channeled efficiently and transparently into program delivery. Annual audited reports will be made available to partners and major donors upon request.

Yes, the Moyo Initiative is a registered national Non-Governmental Organization compliant with all regulatory and legal requirements of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The heart of our youth empowerment strategy.

Operating as vibrant, structured extracurricular centers within public and private educational institutions, these clubs provide consistent, high-quality instruction and mentorship in the arts.
Our goal is to transform passive learning into active creation, equipping young Tanzanians with both artistic technique and crucial life skills such as entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and intellectual property awareness to build sustainable creative careers.

The mission of the Moyo Initiative is to transform the creative economy of Tanzania by providing a professional governance framework, building essential infrastructure (the Sanaa Arts Centre), and delivering high-quality, empowering education to artists and students nationwide.
We envision a Tanzania where the creative sector is a robust, well-governed, and globally competitive economic force. Moyo Initiative will be the established leader in providing the educational pathways and professional infrastructure that empower every creative talent to thrive.
To establish a reliable, self-sustaining ecosystem that empowers Tanzanian artists, preserves cultural knowledge, and contributes directly to the national economy.
